The Team

Keith Stuffins

Keith became a Christian in his teens (some years ago!) and is a director of GBS Radio.  He worships with an evangelical fellowship on the Wirral, where he served as an elder for 50 years.  He first came into contact with GBS in 1958 when he and his late wife, Jean, went to see a film about the missionary radio station in the Philippines called FEBC International.  Following this they started to attend the monthly GBS prayer meetings at the A C Mltchell Church in Liverpool, and their interest in Christian radio was born and they joined the GBS Team in 1960.

Bert Ralfs, one of the founders of GBS, invited Keith to help in the production of an English language programme that was being produced for broadcast from FEBC to S. E. Asia.  This was "Search the Scriptures", the forerunner of our current Bible-teaching programme Discovery.  So began a long and continuous Involvement in the work of Christian broadcasting.

Down the years there has been the opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of radio, including producing and presenting programmes, writing and editing scripts, and answering listeners' letters.  Now, in addition to this, there are administrative responsibilities as secretary and treasurer.  This has been a definite calling from the Lord, and it is a privilege to be involved with such an exciting and challenging work for Him.

Brian Knight

Brian has had an interest in things electrical and electronic from about the age of 10.  After school and college studies and working in various industries, he qualified as a Chartered Electrical Engineer.  The majority of his working life has been spent in the petro-chemical industry, as a senior electrical engineer, until he was given early retirement at the end of 1999.

The Lord saved him during my early teenage years.  The church he attended was led by Sidney Bowen, who also broadcast a stamp collecting programme called "The Hobby of Kings" with Keith Stuffins over short wave Christian missionary radio stations.  Will Rankin, a former contributor, was also one of the Elders at this church.  This together with his interest in electronics lead him to have an interest in GBS.

A number of years later he believed the Lord was calling him to use my technical skills in the ministry of GBS.  He expressed this interest to Bert Ralfs and was subsequently appointed a director of GBS in August 1988.

He is married to Kath and has two adult daughters.  He worships at an evangelical church on the Wirral, where he is an Elder.

Dixie Dean

Brought up in a small market town on the border of Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire, Dixie became a Christian at 15 years of age.

He soon developed an interest in Christian music and in 1973 joined one of the first full time Christian pop groups "Parchment" as their sound engineer.  This brought him to Liverpool where he met his wife Cheryl.

On marrying and settling down he moved to Liverpool and joined the Merseyside Police, retiring in 2008.  He currently runs a company which supplies knowledge products to the police.

Cheryl and Dixie live in the south Liverpool suburb of Halewood Village.  They have two sons, and 3 grandchildren.  They attend Grace Church, Halewood, which meets in the local leisure centre.  He has retained a continuing interest in Christian music, including playing bass guitar in the church worship band.  Dixie is also a member of Gideons International.

Dixie was introduced to GBS by Alan Morrell, a former contributor, who thought his many skills in recording and computers may be of benefit to them.  He is actively involved in the development of GBS and assists in recording sessions of Discovery.  He also maintains this web site, our You Tube presence, together with our Facebook page.

Russell Taylor

Russell is our newest member and is looking after our booklet development.

Russell was brought up in North Wales and became a Christian at the age of 13 through attending a barbeque organised by the local branch of NYLC (now called Young Life).  On leaving school he served a five years apprenticeship in mechanical engineering at Shotton Steelworks.  After working at the steelworks for nineteen years he joint the Management Services department at Alyn & Deeside Council and eventually becoming responsible for co-ordinating the emergency housing repairs.  Upon local government reorganisation in Wales he took early retirement and began work as a volunteer tutor at Emmaus Bible School. Eventually, after a short break from there he joined the staff of Emmaus as a tutor involved in the School’s prison ministry. Altogether, including his time as a volunteer, he spent 12 years in the Lord’s service there.  He was involved in helping to produce some of the children’s courses and the printing work, including some of the GBS booklets.

He lives near Mold in North Wales and is a member of an independent church serving as an Elder.

He is married to Judy and has one married daughter.

Derek Lindley

In addition to being a regular contributor, Derek joined the production team in 2015.

Jean Stuffins

Keith's wife, Jean, was for many years a valuable member of the team.  She went to be with the Lord in May 2016.
